Manchester City and Arsenal have already clinched the top spot in their Champions League groups as they play their final group matches this week against PSV and Crvena Zvezda, respectively. Liverpool is in the same catbird seat in Europa League competition as it faces Union Saint-Gilloise Thursday. Manchester United’s hopes of advancing in the Champions League hang by a thread. The Red Devils need to beat Bayern Munich and Harry Kane at Old Trafford on Tuesday and bank on a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray. Newcastle’s chances aren’t much better. The Magpies must defeat AC Milan at St. James Park Wednesday while PSG fails to win versus group leader Borussia Dortmund. In Europa League, Brighton and West Ham are qualified to keep playing after the group stage, but this week’s results will determine whether they move on as group winners or enter a playoff against clubs dropping down from Champions League. Brighton needs to defeat Marseilles on Thursday to clinch the top spot. West Ham must similarly prevail over Bundesliga side Freiburg. Aston Vila needs just a point to clinch the top spot in its Europa conference League group when Manager Unai Emery’s side face Bosnian club Srinjski Thursday.
