Champions League and Europa competition resume this week. Struggling Liverpool faces RB Leipzig, currently second in the Bundesliga, on Tuesday. The match will be played in Budapest, Hungary due to COVID related travel restrictions. RB Leipzig, who eliminated Manchester United in the tournament’s last round, have won four of their last five league matches and recently advanced in the DFB-Pokal, the German equivalent of the English FA Cup. Tuesday’s other Champions League match features former Premier League managers Ronald Koeman and Mauricio Pochettino when Barcelona hosts PSG. Champions League matches featuring the remaining Premier League teams in the competition, Manchester City and Chelsea, take place next week. Europa competition resumes Thursday with several matches displaced due to COVID restrictions. Manchester United will face Real Sociedad in Turin, Italy. Spurs take on Austrian side Wolfsberg in Budapest and Arsenal goes to Rome to play Portuguese side Benfica. The Premier League table and domestic cup competitions make it probable that Spurs and Arsenal can only compete in next year’s Champions League by winning this year’s Europa tournament.
